AC/DC Experts Mix Quiz

Welcome to this really no-frills quiz site. There is nothing magical here - just a simple quiz for all of you AC/DC nuts and experts out there who want to measure your recognition and memory skills against a mix I created several years back to quiz my friends.

The operation is quite easy: I've got a roughly 15 minute long complation of various AC/DC riffs, licks, segments, a few with some lyrics in them, most of them only instrumental. There are 3 version of the compilation - they all contain the exact same thing - just at different mp3 sample rates for 3 different file sizes. You choose the file size you can stomach downloading - bigger being longer but better quality. You should be able to identify the stuff from even the lowest quality clip.

Then comes the hard part: listen to it, and again and again. Dig through your discography if you must cheat. Each time there is a transition from one Title (or part of a title) to another title, its a new part. Some titles show up more than once but not many. The object is to the list of the titles of the songs/tracks (source album is not needed) in the correct order.

We have a winner!

Well the contest went rather quick. After opening the downloads and form at 12:00 noon CST (18:00GMT) it took all of 2:50:18 for the first and right on accurate submission to arrive:

Winner:Sasha
Vuchak, Croatia
Email: miroslava.pericak@kr.tel.hr
I've sent Sasha the prize and that was that. Nice job.

In second place, with a time of 3:13:01 was Dolemite92@aol.com.

How to use it?

That said, its no longer a contest, but it will remain an open quiz for any and all newcommers to try their hand. You type in your guesses, the system compares it to my list of answers, and then a score is generated, first a x out of 59 and a percentage, then a list of your guesses and either YES or NO next to it. From there you can come back to this page with the browsers BACK BUTTON and adjust your entries on the form and try again, or you can scroll way to the bottom of the score sheet and it lists your guesses again along with the correct answers (for those who are only off by 1 or 2 and don't have the time to try and get it right, for those with no real willingness to abuse themselves on this, or for those who are sure they are correct and the simple grading system isnt't doing a good job on due to some variation in titles of what are actually the same song).
To submit your answers, there is a form containing slots to type in the names of the songs. This is important: enter the song titles as they appear on the albums (studio and not live would be prefered). This will result in me having the best chance of properly identifying and grading your submission.

Music is MP3 encoded - you need an MP3 player to listen. I recomend that you SAVE the files to disk first, THEN listen.
You can find an MP3 player at www.mp3.com and select Getting Started, or you can get WinAmp from www.winamp.com. WinAmp Lite is a very small package (564KB) and quick to download if you only want to play MP3's.
You can also download WinAmp Lite here I've tested this player - it works.

What to look for
Recognize the small segment of music playing and from which AC/DC song it comes from. Some of the segments may well be modified versions of the original - in other words I've fiddled with the audio a bit to make it more intersting, more annoying or more difficult but ALL segments should be recognizable by thier characteristic attributes. Eh, you will know what I'm talking about if you happen to notice the few changes I made. DO NOT count a song multiple times in the same slot if I've fiddled with it. Its all the same song until the thing transitions to an entirely different title. In other words, there will not be 2 Back in Black segments back to back which are to be scored as for example "... 4) Highway to hell 5) Back in Black 6) Back in Black 7) Stiff Upper Lip" - in such a case, you would only count Back in Black once. Now it is possible that Back in Black shows up later in the thing again - in that case count it a second time. Example " 4) Highway to Hell 5) COD 6) Let There Be Rock 7) Highway to Hell" you would thus correctly list Highway to Hell twice - and I'm sure that that sort of thing does occur at least once (thats your only hint along with the fact that there are 59 segments you need to identify).

The examples in the previous paragraph are made up - DO NOT assume anything about the content of the piece based on the examples. They ONLY served to hopefully reduce the chance of a common error (I hope it doesnt confuse you even more). What you do know is that some songs repeat and there are a total of 59 slots.
